How to use a battery as back-up for the router


Alarm System

All alarm systems have a back-up battery of 12V 7Ah


TP-Link Router 4G TL-MR6400

All routes use an External Power Supply 

TL-MR6400 (EU) 9V/0.85A



We connect the router to the alarm power back-up battery and use it as back-up power for the 4G router as well.


We will use a  

Laptop Car Charger

Multiple Volts

  • Input: 12V-24V
  • Output: 24W-2A
  • Tip: 6 tips




We need the charge set to Output 9V
Output at 9V has 2A which is enough for the router


or a specific volts charger

Car Charger 9V 2A

  • Input: 12-24V DC
  • Output: 9V 2A
  • Tip: 5.5x2.1mm / 5.5x2.5mm


We need to take 

  1. 12V 7Ah from the battery and send it to the
  2. 9V 0.85Ah router




We can also use 12V Car Lighter Adapter so we can plug the charger
